Almost July!!! A little writing practice about Real conditionals

Days go by, we're almost in July and I can assure I still feel it was one month ago when I wrote something in this blog. Some people say this feeling of time flying is something that adults perceive not just because we're busier than kids (in a way), but because we're unconsciously comparing the period of time we are living, like our present, with the period of time we have already lived. And this could be understood as if I'm comparing the week that just finished, with the total amount of weeks that I've lived before that one, thus, I felt last week lasted nothing. And the same with months, and years. As time goes by, obviously there are more lived days accumulated. In comparison, kids don't have the same feeling, because they have lived lesser than their parents.

Now, the point is that I still can't figure out how to add some vocabulary and grammatical structures to my actual vocabulary, I just don't use it, I´m not sure how to put them into my long-term memory, so I wanted to give it a try and practice some writing, this time trying to incorporate some conditionals, to see if this helps me to use this in a more natural way.

I still feel these are kind of complex structures but i find them useful to express some ideas in common conversations, or telling stories.

So let me start with zero conditional, which is nothing really special, the only tense involved is the present tense and you use it to show facts, or things that happen immediately after something, because  they are inherently connected: Truths, scientific facts, real world facts, habits.

Zero conditional:

If you don't sleep, you get sick.
If I practice something, I get better at that.
If it rains, the streets get wet.
If it's Sunday, I sleep a little more.
If there are dirty plates on the dishwater, I wash them
If I go to sleep, I brush my teeth first.
If it's hot, I drink something
If I have basil, I make some pesto and a Gin basil.
If I have a headache, I take a pill
If the traffic lights are red, you can't cross the street.
If she feels dizzy, she get some rest.

I believe it's enough of the zero conditional, let's go with the next one.

The first conditional involves the some present form (simple, perfect, and progressive or continuous) with some future form (will, going to, continuous and perfect) and we usually use it to talk about promises, warnings, but in general, things that are likely to happen in the future, if something happens before:

If I stay at home today, I'll buy a pizza
If I put some music, I'll dance
If it doesn't rain, I'll go to the park
If I have money, I'll buy those headphones
If I have to work tomorrow, I'll go but I'll come back early.
If I have to do the laundry, You'll do the dinner

If you haven't done what you said you would, then we're not going anywhere.
If you're not going, I'm not going either
If you're looking for water, you'll find it in the fridge.
If you do this, You'll be running faster than ever
If  you start right now, You'll have eaten your whole meal by noon.
If  I don't pass the test, I'll have been studying for nothing!
If It has been raining since last night, you'll have to wait until the streets are not flooded.

At this point' I believe I've had enough with this structures.

To be continue.
